Ary Hoffmann

Ary Hoffmann is a Melbourne Laureate Professor and NHMRC Principal Research Fellow at the Bio21 Institute, University of Melbourne working in the areas of climate change adaptation and pest/disease vector control. His group undertakes research on adaptation of organisms (mostly invertebrates) to environmental stresses including climate change and chemical pollutants, focusing particularly on genomic approaches and using field sites in Australia and overseas. His group investigates the use of maternally inherited endosymbiotic bacteria in mosquitoes and other invertebrates to reduce human disease transmission. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences and American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
